All About

ryan-salinetticropped.jpg

Ryan, "Ry" M. Sal is Mom to Will, Wife to Bill, Daughter/Sister/Niece/Cousin, Owner of Bluedog, maker of home, designer of numerous brands, writer of blogs, multitasker and self-proclaimed egg, nut, and dairy free food enthusiast [in that order]. She still owns and wears a suede jacket purchased in 1993 and has lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut (again), New York (again), New Hampshire and New York (again), with brief multiweek-long stints in Georgia [the state], Abroad and Massachusetts.

In 1997 Ryan graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts/Graphic Design from Rosemont College -- formerly a college just for women, but as of 2009--sinfully co-ed. She also dabbled in defense on the college field hockey team and minored in a combo of Womyn's Studies and Art History. Ryan also frequented a bar called Brick and is not ashamed to talk about it.

Professionally, Ryan has been associated with:
  • Hub Creative Technologies, Boston MA - consulting creative director
  • Lehman Millet, Boston MA - freelance graphic designer
  • Stackpole & Partners, Newburyport MA - full-time graphic designer
  • Geophysical Survey Systems, Salem NH - full-time graphic presentation specialist
  • Richardson Design, Riverside CT - full-time graphic designer
  • Resident Publications, New York NY - full-time computer artist
  • Gyro Worldwide, Philadelphia PA - part-time design intern
  • Craighead Publications, Darien CT - part-time computer artist
  • Tiffany & Company, New York NY - assistant, engraving department (client services)
  • Gestetner Corporation, Greenwich CT - part-time assistant, publications department

During the year 2000 and while living on the New Hampshire seacoast, Ryan founded RiotsDesign--a creative firm specializing in brand development. After that she almost immediately became allergic to shellfish and blamed it all on karma. During the same calendar year, Bluedog was adopted and the world became a better place.

In 2002 Ryan, Bill and Bluedog found themselves on a ferry boat mid-Long Island Sound, heading south to the "East End" of Long Island, a proud "Hamptons" locale where they currently hold court.

In 2005 Ryan co-founded Breakwater Design, a creative design studio in Bridgehampton NY. From 2006 until closing the doors in 2010, she took over complete ownership of Breakwater and was involved "in no small part" with the founding of VOX [Hamptons] Magazine [currently defunct] and until the Spring of 2007 held the position of Creative Director. Later on that year, Will was born and the world became an even better place.

Currently and forever a full time Mom, Independent Creative Consultant, and totally addicted to office supplies and America's Next Top Model, Ryan is quoted as saying..."I have associated myself with an amazing team of artists, photographers, designers and technicians. By combining the richest mix of skills and personalities together in a creative atmosphere--we reap exceptional results."

While in traffic, she is also quoted as saying "I just wish people drove more aggressively", and refers to her design-business experience as "brilliantly psychopathic".

During 2008, after a lifetime of obsessive privacy and in a fit of an overwhelming NEED TO SHARE, Ry started blogging For The Birds. In 2010, with the help of her family, Ry founded http://willskitchen.com. She has only once been found regretting a written word.

Hello Ryan,

What an impressive resume.

I am excited to post a story on your site. Perhaps it should be about our unruly German Pointer that I grew up with who would go to the nearby Country Club and hunt all of their ducks??

Anyway, glad to find you. Let me know what you need from me.

Best, Jillian

You make me feel lazy so now you can consider yourself an inspiration. I will try to start doing great things tomorrow. I really like the blog and anyone having spent time in NY is okay in my book.
